Still recovering from the fact that life in my 30s will never look like Friends
It’s like you’re always stuck in 2nd gear.
And it hasn’t been your day, your week, your month, or even your year!
I’ll be there for you!
As someone approaching my 30s, please, explain
Watch the opening of Friends.
What do you mean by 2nd grear?
It’s the Friends theme song lyrics. It means when it feels like you’re in a rut. Metaphorically like having a car that is stuck in 2nd gear and you can’t move gears up to accelerate.
Oh I seeeee. Sorry, I can be a bit stupid sometimes
You’re not stupid. Don’t worry about it!
Yep I know literally nobody who has a friendship group like that past early 20s
Can someone explain the meme to me? I’m oblivious
I’m just wondering is “delulu” slang for “delusional”? Like was the real word that hard to spell?
I think it’s short for “the lulu” which is a cutesy name for the Lusitania, meaning they feel like they have been sunk.
Well one is certainly more fun to say
If you want to sound like a child, yeah…
Sometimes words evolved for the spelling, sometimes for the sounds.
I think in this case it was for the fun sound, especially given it arose through tiktok communities.
It’s a cutesy way of spelling it, popularized on social media and also by content creators
I figured its unrealistic body standards and lifestyles? All the pictured people (mostly women) are barbie-doll skinny and tall.
I had to look up delulu, and it seems to be a reaction to that very thing:
Delulu is an internet slang term used to describe the belief that one can influence one’s own destiny through sheer willpower. Derived from the English-language word delusional, the term has its origins in K-pop communities where the term delulu is used to refer to individuals who were in a parasocial relationship with celebrities and had hopes of meeting them someday. The term has subsequently been adopted by Generation Z and Generation Alpha, popularized by viral TikTok trends such as the catchphrase “delulu is the solulu”, implying that self-confidence is key to achieving one’s dreams, however far-fetched. Solulu and trululu are slang terms for “solution” and “truth” respectively, and they are modeled after delulu.
What a terrible day to be able to read.
Ah thx. I remember Desilu Productions and wondered if Delulu was similar. I didn’t recognize most of the TV shows.
Still confused. These look like normal people with some nice makeup on.
Is the joke that americans are fat?
Forgot this one:
Okay but Mean Girls was supposed to be ridiculous and unrealistic. They hired a 25-yr-old Rachel McAdams to play a high school junior for a reason lol
Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill are the two remaining Edit: anticlockwise from top left:
- Mean Girls
- Gossip Girl
- Gilmore Girls
- One Tree Hill
- Sex and the City
- Pretty Little Liars
Thanks mate 👍
I recognize Mean Girls in the top left, but I have no clue on the others.
Top right: pretty little liars
Bottom left: Gilmore GirlsIdk about the others
WRONG! Top right is A: who’ll it be this week
Besides sex in the city and mean girls, that was the extent of my knowledge too. I wonder if we are from a certain generation…
Middle right looks like “Sex and the City”
So if someone can ID middle left and bottom right, we’ll have the whole set
I think middle left is “The OC” maybe?
