  • Its a hard question to answer. How many jobs are created by those people? Is it a net positive or negative compared to someone who doesnt create any successful company in his life?

I think I just hate the personality of the American billionaries. They are missing a lot of things inside, but that is also why they work so hard, because they need attention and feeling superior to others. Happy people dont even compare themselves to others very much and they feel good just having enough money to get a decent place to live, a decent car and decent food every day. And a partner to make life feel meaningful.

Of course now, young women are being totally brainwashed by social media so now they think they need to find rich single guys and ignore 90% of guys out there, which makes it hard to find a partner.

Its all part of the larger plan of making men feel like they dont have a purpose. Its just psyops. But thats a different discussion…

  • No I dont think we should destroy taxes. But I would love if they actually benefitted the majority of people, like you and me. After 50 years of being here on this planet, I havent seen that happening. I see old people getting poor health care, living on very little pension, and being forgotten by society.

All im saying is that the system is largely just sucking up money from everybody and using it for things the majority will never benefit from. We are easily talking many many millions in taxes over the years that you and I will never see again.

And of course you can say, shouldnt we pay taxes to support the weak in society? Yes, but again, i dont see that happening. I see old people being poor, i even see people being homeless. I see a lot of pain every day in people who actually need help but dont get it, because in capitalism, profits matter, not people.

So I guess im pretty much saying that taxes in capitalism ends up being profits for someone rich, not you and me. And also in communism, all systems I would guess. Because there isnt any system that puts human happiness above profits.

  • Its like having a junior developer with a world of confidence just change shit and spend hours breaking things and trying to fix them, while we pay big tech for the privilege of watching the chaos.

I asked chat gpt to give me a simple squid proxy config today that blocks everything except https. It confidently gave me one but of course it didnt work. It let through http and despite many attempts to get a working config that did that, it just failed.

So yeah in the end i have to learn squid syntax anyway, which i guess is fine, but I spent hours trying to get a working config because we pay for chat gpt to do exactly that…

Yeah because first of all, content had to be spread out across 562826 different communities for no reason other than that reddit had lots of communities, after growing for many many years. It started with just a few.

Then 99% of those were created on Lemmy.world, and every new user was directed to sign up at Lemmy.world.

I guess a lot of people here are younger than me and didn’t experience forums, but we had like 30 forum channels. That was enough to talk about anything at all. And I believe it’s the same here, it would have been enough. And then all channels would have easy to find content.

Yep it’s down a lot. I think it’s because it’s just memes and also quite hard moderation and downvotes. It feels like a reddit clone that has the exact same mindset as reddit. I get annoyed when I see people being moderated for having an opinion that is not popular.

I saw a post being locked yesterday for asking about moderation. Doesn’t anyone else see the problem with that? Your channels rules are not more important than making people feel they can talk and express what’s on their mind.

I hate that so much. Stop treating people like they are just resources to moderate.

I don’t see much discussions. But I’m sure there is a few here and there.

  • I have no idea what woke even means anymore. It seems to mean “social awareness”. Black lives matters kind of a thing. Equal rights for trans people too of course. That doesn’t mean that everyone should support games being forced into having all genders, or races, or include trans people. Or all books or movies should be forced to have those things.

If you create something, it’s up to you how you want that to be. You are the artist.

This is not equal to hating trans people, and anyone with some iq points realizes this. We can’t turn every creation into a vehicle for trans rights.
