My entire career, I got a one-hour lunch, and two, paid, ten-minute breaks.

I know some will say you’d rather not because that’s just more time at work, but with a one-hour lunch you can leave work, that’s the whole point. It’s a real break. One hour is enough time to go to a restaurant, or you can eat at work, and take a short walk. Half-an-hour is barely enough to time to eat and use the bathroom.

I guess what I’m saying is unionize.

  • With so few of them, it wouldn’t take much to end them all.

With 200, half would be female, and maybe a third of them would be child bearing.

A food crisis, or internal strife, or disease, or all three at once, could easily drop that number to too few to sustain the population, and that would be the end of them.

Just because it hasn’t happened before, doesn’t mean it can not have happened recently. For all we know, they were suffering such a crisis for the past twenty+ years, and now the last of them have died off, or will die off soon.

  • When people say, “I don’t use drugs”, almost never do they include alcohol in that. Alcohol, which is a drug, is always referred to separately, in large part because it’s a beverage. Most people, if asked, will agree that alcohol is a drug, but it’s not really categorized as one in their mind on a day-to-day basis. No one has a glass of wine at lunch and thinks, “I’m doing drugs now.” But, if alcohol as a liquid simply didn’t exist, but exactly the same effect could be had in pill form, I don’t think people would be taking a pill with their dinner, and washing it down with water.
