I feel like most bike related crashes (not involving cars) are damage to the individual and not to property. Maybe to their bike, or minor damage elsewhere. If that’s the case I would imagine medical insurance would be enough. I guess there are some really fancy bikes you might want to insure but you’re right it’s prob not worth the admin cost for even a 2 or 3k bike.

The way to solve this is to pay people fair and equal wages. Union employees all know how much everyone makes (at least my union), and nobody is jealous and starts workplace drama. We might be pissed if someone’s in a higher position than us and therefore getting paid better, but that’s an issue in any workplace.

If someone is getting paid more for the same work (as in, they’re in a higher position so they’re getting paid better), then the employee takes it up with the union who fights on their behalf to improve their salary.

Payment transparency leads to employees having the ability to demand change and argue for themselves.

Unions aren’t a perfect system but there’s a reason they work.

On my 30th, I went out dancing and had an absolute blast. The day after 30th birthday I woke up with the absolute worst pain I had ever felt in my side. It hurt to move and it hurt even more to pee, I legit thought something had burst inside me. Went to the doctor and he said I was fine, it was probably just stress.

I figured it out later, I had slept on the couch in a bad angle and severely fucked myself up. Four years later, my 30s has basically been just that on a cycle. Just like my 20s but with new and improved pain.

I always think of that episode of black mirror where the soldiers are made to wear masks that make the humans that they’re killing look like monsters. Except in real life the mask is inside their brain and it’s extremely difficult if not impossible to remove. They’re not seeing humans when they kill and torture.

I 100% agree with you. We can say “yay good job government” bit then we need to keep our eyes on them, our voices loud, and make sure those words are followed by actions.

100% though there are groups of retired folks that definitely do meet up there regularly like in these shows.

It’s not illegal where I live but it’s against my union rules (though it’s not a labour job). They have super strict rules about exactly when we should take our breaks. I get it in principle because there are asshole bosses who would try to force people to work through their breaks or shame them into it, but it really sucks for those of us who just don’t mind pushing through so we can leave early or like to take late lunches.

At a staff meeting, my boss the other day mentioned that his boss (who usually does weekly update emails) has been out on vacation for a while but he said let him know if we need anything from her urgently.

Well, in her updates, she always includes pictures of her cats, so I jokingly said “we need pictures of her cats”. I shit you not, he mentioned this to her and while on vacation, this woman sent us all an “important update” that was just photos of her cat.

Yeah mine does the same to my Bluetooth headphones if I’m near it, but for like the two minutes that I’m microwaving my lunch, who cares. I want to know what the hell OP is using their microwave so much for.

The good thing about forgiveness is that it doesn’t have to be actually granted in order for the person to see the errors in their way and meaningfully repent. Works the other way too, you don’t have to forgive anyone for anything ever (though that can arguably be harmful to yourself).
