Must be an awesome feeling to be able to stick the finger to a person in power and knowing they’ll see it.
So many people call out Trump to his face on their shows.
It’s been verified that in the past he had people collecting all print media about him for his review. I imagine some poor intern has to compile and present these clips to him daily. (I kind of want that job?)
I think if I wouldn’t be able to find enough hurting stuff about him, I would just generate something.
“Here’s your daily feed, Mr President, Sir! It’s very bad today, they even made you make out with a toad!”
Does that make them the court jesters of our time?
Nah court jesters were entertaining and a king would regularly execute ones that overstepped their privilege. Trump isn’t laughing.
They’re ragebaiters and they have a hell of a megaphone.
Is this how early fans felt at the end of season 1 / start of season 2?
Not Without My Anus was hilarious. But even funnier were the (fake?) voicemails used as commercials for the actual 2nd part conclusion.
I remember it being all the rage of my middle school
Not even close. That was one of the most misery inducing experiences ever. They’re the king trolls
Just enough time for a re write maybe?
Matt / Trey’s magic 8-ball says something funny gonna happen this week.
Your media literacy has failed you
Nah, South Park have put out some really questionable stories though the years.
They’re outrage satire.
Anyone taking them seriously is literally part of the satire.
Enjoy the nonsense and don’t get caught up being offended, that’s literally the point of the show.
I don’t watch the show. I know people who do watch the show and take the messages seriously. South Park is Schrödinger’s Morality Tale. It’s whatever the audience wants it to be.
Well you missed the point (which is even stated in the wiki article that you linked) of that episode so I don’t know if you are a good judge of that
I don’t even watch the show. I just knew pseudo-intellects who used that episode as an excuse not to vote and feel smug about it. South Park has so many episodes, so many half thought out politics and messages, that you can just cherry pick whatever you want out of it. It’s really just a new religion like that. I still hear people citing Super Cereal and manbearpig while mocking Climate Change science.
Remember the anti-trans episode with the graphic depiction of testicles being removed? I could have done the same thing with teeth being removed, but there’s no cultural war about dental care. And yes, I know that they recanted and apologized for those, but the damage is done.
So you’re coming from a place of complete ignorance and predispositions. Hmmm, sounds like the very people you are complaining about
If they did it about teeth it would still be a nod to the trans culture war. Again, that’s the point - it’s current event satire. The show is two guys mocking everyone in the context of a current moment in time. Early show didn’t necessarily start that way but it’s developed into that because they got tired of coming up with episode ideas about random things and just started taking inspiration from current events.
You don’t have to like it, it’s not for everyone. But if you know people who take any of the “messaging” seriously and don’t agree with their views that reflects a lot more on those people just being dumb than it does the content of the show.
Anyone can get whatever they want out of any piece of media, but the POINT of South Park is satire. Offensive, outrageous satire. If people get offended or take anything seriously then they’re part of the show’s zeitgeist. This isn’t just my interpretation, it’s communicated clearly from the creators over decades of their own speech on the subject.
😍nice!
