The motion was defeated 5 to 7. One Republican member, Ralph Norman, voted yes alongside Democrats.
Democrats don’t have to block it if they know Republicans will. The votes are for show and they’re all in on it. Or at least a significant number of them are, either by direct involvement or complicity.
