Caught up on Astrid et Raphaëlle - Season 1 was so amazing, but the rest of the seasons have not been anywhere near as good. Just finished season 2 of Luna & Sophie (SOKO Potsdam) - Great show but I’m only watching until the OG cast starts leaving. Continuing Nautilus - still awesome

I am on the third episode and it is getting really good. It is a bit jarring at times as there are two cast members who played prominent roles in the Harry Potter movies and two cast members who played prominent roles in Game of Thrones.

The stand out character Akram Salim is played Alexej Manvelov. He is initially introduced as tech support but there is clearly a lot more to his back story.

Sometimes I do love the magic of “Tinsel Town”. Alexej is a sweet playing a Turk. It makes me think about how King Kong only came up to Fay Wray’s belly button.

I have finished the first episode and I am not sure if I am into this show yet. It is about a team of arson investigators and stars Jurnee Smolett, Taron Egerton and Greg Kinnear. Parts are great, there is some interesting story crumbs but there is a little to much trying to hard so far. I am not sure if I would recommend it.

I have done the first episode and HOLY HELL this show rocks. The production values are of the hook and the cast is spectacular. It is a period piece that takes place right after WWI and focuses on a few women who seem to be about to becomes big time criminals.

Tonight will episode 6 of Andor and just like Season 1 it just delivers and fires on all cylinders. It is the first Star Wars live action product I have loved completely since 1980.

    Ok late addition

I just started this tonight and wow is it great! Erin Doherty just keeps delivering!!

I tried watching ‘For All Mankind’ with my partner but we gave up after a couple of episodes. I wasn’t really sure what to expect going in, but all the relationship and 1960s social drama stuff is quite dull and it feels like a show that will take an absolute eternity to “get good”, if it actually does. With four seasons already out, we decided to cut our losses before we waste more time with it.

I have also been watching a low budget Canadian mystery series called ‘Something Undone’, which is about a true crime podcast duo investigating a cold case in a small town. I’m only a few episodes in, but I really like the cinematography and small town feel of the show. There’s not a lot of dialogue, and quite a bit is communicated visually instead. It reminds me of the many small town mystery audiodrama podcasts out there with writing that is as clichéd as the rest of them yet somehow still entertaining. It has that “cosy watch in bed” kind of vibe and the episodes aren’t too long either. It’s also fun because it has quite a few actors I’ve seen in other Canadian productions, such as ‘The Expanse’ and ‘Kim’s Convenience’, but who never had this much screen time in those shows. One of the leads, Michael Musi, played a very silly role in the latter of those shows so it’s interesting to see him play a much more serious role here.

I agree with you on For All Mankind. I got pretty deep into S1 and I was forcing myself to pay attention. It hits the mark for all the things I tyically love:

      • NASA
      • SCFI
      • Alternate Reality
      • Joel Kinnaman

I just couldn’t get into it.

For All Mankind I liked the first season, but no, it doesn’t get better.

Each season does a different decade, so the leads age up.

It overplays the science fiction card. For example, in the last season they are on Mars. One of the workers is smuggling minerals to Earth for jewelry. None of the CIA/KGB people notices that Martian jewely is being advertised in in the newspapers.

It’s hilarious how the leads age and age and just keep going. I have no idea how these characters are going to make it to season four unless they are cryogenically frozen.

I just finished up season 3 of The Boys last night. I avoided it for the longest time because of the hyper violence, but the story is slowly growing on me and it’s actually only violent in certain circumstances.

Watching Always Sunny, still hilarious and everything but the gang’s extensive plastic surgery really kinda messed up the vibe of the show. I wonder if they will work that into the plot somehow.

    Peacemaker Season 1.

I’ve had a friend bugging me to watch it for a few years now. I’m almost finished and enjoying it so far. I hope it sticks the landing.

    Season 2 comes out soon.

I really enjoyed the first season and I’m looking forward to the second. This is one show where I will watch the opening credits every single time because it’s so much fun.

I was skeptical going in. I’m not usually one for enjoying fucked up characters. But this one is pulling it off. I really think it wouldn’t work without John Cena in the lead.

Black Sails. Pirates done better than the Johnny Depp movies.

Penny Dreadful. Witches, werewolves, vampires, immortals, and Eva Green as a psychic.

Landman. Billy Bob Thornton as the site manager for an independent oil company. Has to deal with the cartels who smuggle across his feilds; the crazy idiots who work for him; the maniac who he works for; and his psycho family.

Tried finally watching Penny Dreadful last week. The first two episodes were great and I thought I was gonna be hooked, but then it shifts gears into boring backstories and I gave up.

Reminded me a bit of League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

For the first time: Night Court, Deep Space 9, Drunk History, Dimension 20
    Rewatching: Mythbusters, QI

Always a universal recommendation for the latter two, of course. The others are too hit and miss or too fringe interest for me to feel comfortable recommending it to people I don’t know.

I just started a DS9 rewatch. I find it more interesting focusing on the more alien side characters in that show. The human and bajoran stuff not so much.

Yeah. Judging by how I tend to drift off whenever Rene Auberjonois isn’t on screen, I guess I’m really just interested in the “police procedurals in space”-part 🤷

Bit of a hidden gem (at least for me) ‘United states of Tara’ it’s about a lady w multiple personalities their family and stuff. It has a very similar drama/humour ratio as Weeds. It has a great cast and Spielberg as executive producer I think

The new season / spin-off of The Amazing World of Gumball, The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, didn’t have to go so hard in the first episode.

    Episode One Spoiler

The first episode literally ends with an “Eat the Rich” joke where they eat a billionaire fast food magnate named Mr. Bilderburger… Who is also an actual burger.
